What does typing the same data twice cost you a year?

Add each routine where someone keys data from one system into another: orders, bookings, proofs of delivery, stock moves, invoices. The sums run in your browser; nothing is sent or stored.

Your routines

How the sums work

For each routine:

runs a year = runs per week × working weeks

keying cost = minutes per run × runs a year ÷ 60 × staff cost per hour

errors a year = runs a year × error rate

fixing cost = errors a year × minutes to fix ÷ 60 × staff cost per hour

annual cost = keying cost + fixing cost

The example routines are illustrations, not data from any business. Replace them with your own. A working day is taken as 7.5 hours.

Where to start

Sort your routines by annual cost. The top one is usually worth fixing first, as long as it has a clear owner and a result someone can check.
