Phone system support dates

Is your phone system still supported?

Support status and end-of-life dates for phone platforms common in UK businesses, each linked to its source. Out of support means no more security fixes, and on a phone system that can mean toll fraud as well as downtime.

Find your version

Not sure what
you are running?

The make on the handset is not always the system behind it. The version is what decides support.

Look at the admin screen

Most systems show the product and software version on the first page of their web administration, or under "About" or "System". Ask whoever holds the admin login.

Ask your provider

Your reseller or maintainer should be able to tell you the platform, software version and server operating system, and when they last updated it.

Check the server

Software phone systems run on a server. If it is Windows Server 2016, its extended support ends on 12 January 2027, whatever the phone software's own dates.

If yours is out of support

Find out what it does
before it is replaced.

  • Keep it away from the internetAsk your provider to confirm that the admin pages and management ports cannot be reached from outside, and that default passwords are gone.
  • Write down what it doesNumbers, extensions, groups, opening hours, out-of-hours rules and every analogue device plugged into it. These are what get lost in a move.
  • Check the 31 January lines at the same timeIf it connects over ISDN or analogue lines, the switch-off forces the question anyway. Use the free switch-off checklist.

The read-only survey does all three in writing. It records your exact platform and version against these dates, lists security exposure by location (never passwords), and builds the analogue-line register. Nothing on the phone system is changed. From £495 + VAT.
